Nicola Hinds in Bangla Desh

| November 14, 2017
Nicola Hinds is a barrister, a qualified nurse, and a member of Bangor Rotary Club.  Nicola is also the only Volunteer from Ireland for the disaster-relief charity, ShelterBox (which Rotary supports).
There have been many disasters across the world in recent months, and so ShelterBox has been operating at full stretch
On 17 October ShelterBox  telephoned Nicola to say that she would be sent to Bangla Desha densely-populated  and poor country which has suffered from severe flooding.
A few days later Nicola arrived in Rangpur, northern Bangla Desh, from where she has written –
‘Local college students are helping Shelterbox carry out needs assessments in Northern Bangladesh, where homes, livestock and people were swept away in flooding.……
We have had amazing support from Rotary clubs in Bangladesh.  They have helped us with importation procedures, collected us at airports, helped us find warehousing, drivers, logistics of all kinds. And kept us right on local culture and etiquette!
Great people, who do so much for their own communities.
This club run a school in Rangpur, giving 450 children free education, uniforms and meals…. wonderful.
