After a successfulbucket collection held in Tesco’s Bloomfields Shopping Centre at the end of November 2024 for Hospice NI organised by Hon Sec Howard Davidson as part of the province-wide event, Club members travelled to the Hospice to deliver the cheque on behalf of Bangor Rotary.
Led by President Bill, Hon Sec Howard, Karen Douglas and PP Gavin had the opportunity to discuss further fundraising opportunities with the Hospice fundraising staff and take a short tour of the public spaces of the impressive facility.
The delegation heard how the annual running costs of circa £20m are only part – funded by government who provide around 30% of the amount with the rest raised from the community.
The Hospice provides 18 beds to a variety of patients during the yeear with over 50% being under 65, and also operates the near-by Childrens’ Hospice with 12 beds.
