The Mayor of Ards and North Down has described Rotarians as:-“My kind of People”
Speaking at a meeting of Bangor Rotary Club Councillor Gillian McCollum said Rotarians had a shared vision and cared about each other and the community they live in. They champion the community spirit, she added and she congratulated the club and thanked the members for the work they do in the area to help others.She said like so many like-minded groups they use their wealth of experience to turn good intentions into practical actions.
The Mayor said her theme for her year in office has been ‘Belonging’ and she believed that if people feel they belong to somewhere they have a responsibility to look after it.
Outlining the achievements that the Council has made in the Borough in the past year Councillor McCollum said it had been an extraordinary privilege to be Mayor.
