It is with profound sadness that today I find myself calling for a few moments of reflection on the passing of Jack Watson MBE, a well loved and respected member of the Bangor Rotary Club.
Jack passed away after a short but courageous battle with cancer, leaving behind a legacy of dedication and service to Bangor Rotary, and friendship that will be deeply missed by all his fellow rotarians.
Not only was Jack a prominent figure in our club, but he was known for his boundless energy and unwavering commitment to anything he became involved in, and was a source of inspiration to many.
Beyond his work with the Rotary Club, Jack was also a respected figure in the world of cycling, having devoted nearly four decades to the sport in which he performed many roles both in Ireland and many places in the world.
Jack’s dedication to his community and his sport earned him the prestigious honor of an MBE, a testament to his lifetime of service and commitment . He will be remembered not only for his achievements but also for his kindness, wisdom, and the positive impact he had on so many lives.
Our thoughts and deepest sympathies go out to Jack’s beloved wife Rea, his sons Paul and Alan, and all his family and friends during this difficult time. Jack’s legacy will live on in the hearts of those he touched, and he will be greatly missed by all of us at the Bangor Rotary Club.
