It is with profound sadness and a deep sense of loss that the members of the Rotary Club of Bangor mourn the passing of our highly esteemed fellow Rotarian, Past President, and dear friend, Denis “Denny” Neill.
Denny was a cornerstone of the Bangor community, embodying the very essence of the Rotary motto, “Service Above Self.” For many years, he brought his characteristic energy, sharp professional insight from his lifetime running the family estate agency, and an unshakeable dedication to every project the club undertook. His leadership culminated in his successful tenure as Club President (2011–2012).
Beyond the formal meetings and charitable initiatives, Denny will be remembered most fondly by members as the ultimate “meeter and greeter.” He possessed a rare, effortless ability to connect with people from all walks of life with a warmth that filled the room.
His passions extended far beyond Rotary to his beloved Bangor Rugby Football Club, golfing, sailing and drama supporting Bangor Drama Club and Bangor Drama Festival for many years, and playing the bagpipes, making him a true Bangor man through and through.
But above all, he was a devoted family man and the President, Council, and members of the Rotary Club of Bangor extend our deepest, most heartfelt sympathies to his wife Noelle, his daughters Gillian, Barbara, and Catherine, and the entire family circle.
Denny’s legacy of service, fellowship, and good humour will remain an enduring inspiration to us all.
