Bangor Rotary welcomed over 130 guests to their Annual Charity Breakfast at the Bangor Golf Club today.
Welcoming the guests, President Stephen Connolly thanked them for their ongoing support of the work of the Club and invited them to consider joining us in our local, national and international charity work.
Guests included Alderman Bill Keery, Mayor of Ards and North Down Borough Council and William Cross, District Governor of Rotary Ireland
The Keynote Speaker for the morning was veteran journalist Don Anderson. Don began his career writing for a local paper, was a sub-editor at the ‘Newsletter’ before joining the newsroom staff of the BBC just as The Troubles were breaking out. He moved on to Television Centre in London where he worked as a reporter. This took him to many of the world’s trouble spots including the Middle East, Far East and Africa. Later he was appointed first programme controller at Downtown Radio before returning to the BBC as Head of Radio.
The proceeds from the Breakfast will go to assist in the valuable work of Versus Arthritis.
