After the lunchtime meeting on the 13th of September 2023, members of Rotary Club of Bangor assembled for a photograph to celebrate the successful Rotary Ride event held on the 9th of September 2023 at Bloomfield Shopping Centre, raising £545 for Cancerfocus on the day.
A further £40 donation was received on the 13th of September totalling £585 in donations for the local cancer charity. The Rotary Club of Bangor would like to thank Everlast manager Richard McClements at Bloomfield Gym for lending the static bike free of charge.
Many thanks to Tesco’s Community Champion Caroline Edmundson for providing a trolley load of refreshments for the volunteer cyclists and donation collectors, and Bloomfield Manager Rachel Spence for allowing us to use a space in the shopping mall.
A further Rotary Ride event on the 23rd of September was organised with the help of Ards and North Down Cycle Campaign. Participants were asked to give a donation of £10 before setting off, choosing either the direct route to Donaghadee and back (18km), or cycle a longer return route of 30 km through the countryside.
The Rotary Club of Bangor is grateful to Achim Glover from the cycle campaign group for rallying his fellow cyclists to the cause, resulting in a handsome collection of £310 for Prostate Cancer UK.
In total the Club raised £895 as part of the nationwide Rotary Ride event.
