The Bangor Rotary Club is delighted to announce that the Bikeathon on the 4th of September in the Bloomfield Shopping Centre raised over £ 930 for the Northern Irish cancer charity Cancerfocus.
Additional donations were also received after the event on which Rotarians and charity volunteers took turns and pedalled hard on a static bike, while others helped with the bucket collection. With the bike in constant use, the charity cyclists managed to cycle nearly 90 miles in 6 hours.
Everyone involved in the charity ride would like to say a big Thank You to the many kind shoppers for donating so generously to raise much-needed funds for the local cancer charity. The bikeathon was organised under the patronage of Great Britain and Ireland Rotary Ride and the Bangor Rotary Club is grateful to the Bloomfield Management-Team for their support with this event and to George Crawford of hirefitness.co.uk for agreeing a reduced rate.
All money raised went directly to Cancerfocus while the bike hire cost was carried by the club.
