President Patrick welcomed Alan Couser Chair of local RNLI to a February meeting, adding that Bangor Rotary has had a long history of supporting the work of the RNLI.
Alan, who is based in Donaghadee, told members of the illustrious history of the RNLI across this island and emphasised that every rescue by every lifeboat in every corner of Ireland leaves home port crewed entirely by volunteers.
No matter the weather or circumstance, RLI volunteers will respond to a call to assist a mariner regardless of the nature of their distress.
